St. Louis Metropolitan Police Detective Melvin Wilmoth was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 23, 1971 while conducting a drug raid.
Detective Wilmoth served with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department for seven years, and had served with the Special Operative Deployment Division. He left behind his wife and two sons.
