Have you though about planned giving?

Supporting our mission can be implemented in many different ways. Planned giving allows you to give intentionally and to always be mission-minded. This type of support makes a tremendous difference and helps us to continue our service to families of fallen heroes. We hope you consider planned giving and keep in mind the lives you are directly impacting.

What are Planned Gifts?

Planned gifts are contributions a donor prepares now to be allocated in the future to their chosen charitable causes. Planned gifts to The BackStoppers may be cash, assets, or securities allocated during the donor’s lifetime or in passing through methods including estate planning and wills, donor advised funds, and IRA distributions.

In addition to making a significant, impactful contribution to a meaningful mission, planned gifts often have tax benefits for donors.

Legacy Giving and Bequests
A bequest is a planned gift included in one’s estate plan that designates either a set dollar amount or a percentage of one’s assets to be allocated to their chosen charitable causes upon one’s passing.

For information about legacy gifts such as estate bequests, visit the Legacy Giving and Bequests page.

Donor-Advised Fund
A donor-advised fund (DAF) is a private account administered by a third party for the purpose of managing one’s charitable contributions. Donors contribute funds, securities, or assets to the account and advise the account to make gifts to the donor’s chosen charitable causes at any time in the near or distant future. Donor-advised funds provide tax benefits and a considerable amount of flexibility to donors.

Goods and services may not be exchanged for gifts made through donor-advised funds per IRS regulations. For this reason, membership gifts made through donor-advised funds are not eligible for the benefits of membership.

Qualified Charitable Distributions
Making a qualified charitable distribution (QCD) from an IRA to a qualified charitable institution allows donors to distribute some or all of their IRA’s required minimum distribution (RMD), providing the benefit of avoiding paying the taxes on the distributed funds.

Why Choose Planned Giving?

Planned giving allows you to make significant contributions to mission of The BackStoppers while enjoying tax benefits. Supporting The BackStoppers through planned giving makes a difference in the lives of families who have made great sacrifices for our safety. We are extremely grateful for your support through planned gifts and estate bequests.
