The Missouri Department of Public Safety successfully concluded its third annual Missouri First Responders Health and Wellness Conference, bringing together hundreds of emergency personnel to tackle the unique mental and physical health stressors facing those on the front lines. Among the prominent organizations in attendance was BackStoppers, which used the event to showcase a major shift in its mission: transitioning from purely reactive assistance to proactive lifesaving care through our newly launched Cardiac Wellness Program.

The three-day conference, held at the Margaritaville Lake Resort, hosted 350 first responders, alongside their spouses. While seminars focused heavily on PTSD, traumatic stress, and sleep health, BackStoppers’ representatives highlighted an equally urgent killer within the public safety community: heart disease.
The primary purpose of BackStoppers’ attendance was two-fold: to stand in absolute solidarity with health and wellness efforts across the public safety sector, and to educate active personnel on the preventative resources now available to them.
Beyond individual outreach, the convention floor served as a powerful hub for professional collaboration. The BackStoppers team met with a diverse array of other exhibitors, building meaningful connections and establishing future partnerships with both nonprofit and for-profit entities that share a unified mission: serving and protecting the first responder community. The camaraderie was further cemented through traditional public safety networking traditions, including a spirited challenge coin and patch exchange.
