What began as a $15,000 goal for the very first BackStoppers Giving Day ended with a total of $80,847 raised! The success of this virtual day of giving was met because of the dedication from our supporters, the generosity of donors who pledged matches and the hard work of our BackStoppers Giving Day virtual volunteers.
Today marks the 61st anniversary of BackStoppers, and we enter this new year with gratitude that we can continue to support families of fallen first responders.
“I am moved by the community’s outpouring of support during our first BackStoppers Giving Day. This year has brought challenges to all and I am very thankful that our supporters have continued to give to our mission. On September 11, 1959 a group of people from different walks of life answered the call to care for those left behind by first responders that made the ultimate sacrifice. It is an honor to continue this work 61 years later. We hope that we will never have to encounter another line of duty death, but if tragedy does occur then we will be there. . Thank you to all those that contributed to the Giving Day by giving, volunteering or sharing our mission to friends and family. You have made a great difference!” – Chief Ron Battelle, Executive Director
