The BackStoppers service region covers 18 counties in Missouri and 10 in Illinois. Nestled within the most western reaches of our coverage area and about 80 miles from St. Louis is Gasconade County, where a dedicated group, Gasconade County BackStoppers, works to elevate our mission.
The Gasconade County and surrounding communities suffered a great loss on March 12, 2023, when Hermann Det. Sgt. Mason Griffith was shot and killed in the line of duty and Officer Adam Sullentrup was catastrophically injured. Within that same year, Gasconade County BackStoppers began its mission.
Their fundraising efforts include a popular calendar sale along with raffles, apparel sales, Trunk or Treat and more. Most importantly, Gasconade County BackStoppers strives to spread awareness of our mission and engage the community and public safety officers. We are grateful for the efforts of the Gasconade County BackStoppers and all they do to platform BackStoppers.
“The first responder agencies in Gasconade County are thankful to be part of this historic organization. It is vital that our community is aware of BackStoppers since BackStoppers is the support system for families of fallen or catastrophically injured first responders during the most tragic times. We will continue to strive to have fundraisers and continue to support the mission of BackStoppers”. – Chief Scott Griffith, Gasconade County BackStoppers Committee
