On March 12, 2023, Det. Sgt. Mason Griffith and Officer Adam Sullentrup of the Hermann Police Department, responded to a disturbance call at a business. Det. Sgt. Griffith was shot and killed and Officer Sullentrup was catastrophically injured. We immediately began providing support to the Griffith and Sullentrup families.
Officer Sullentrup has been receiving extensive care in Colorado, and we are thrilled to say that he has returned home just in time for Thanksgiving!
We help families of catastrophically injured heroes by providing medical, dental and vision coverage as needed, reimburse for out-of-pocket medical expenses as needed and cover tuition and educational costs from day care through university.
The BackStoppers provides ongoing needed financial assistance and support to the spouses and dependent children of all police officers, firefighters and volunteer firefighters, and publicly-funded paramedics and EMTs who have lost their lives or suffered a catastrophic injury in the line of duty.
