Kirkwood Police Officer Thomas Ballman was shot and killed in the line of duty on February 7, 2008 when a gunman opened fire on a City Council meeting after killing another officer outside. Three civilians were also killed and two wounded.
Officer Ballman served with the Kirkwood Police Department for nine years and had previously served with the St. Charles County Sheriff’s Department for two years. He left behind his wife and two children.
