“On July 1, 2021, our lives were forever changed.  I wasn’t sure what would happen without my best friend by my side. Todd was my true and steady, the calm in the storm and without him I was lost, scared and wasn’t sure how I was going to navigate the future.  Our home was our honeymoon, and instead of going somewhere we built a home. One of my biggest fears was losing the home we built together.  We always wanted our home to be a forever home, a place where our kids and one day our grandkids would come to make memories.  BackStoppers was there for our family.  Not only did they reassure me that they are always there for us, but they gave me back such an important part of who “we” were, and the importance that this home would continue to be what Todd and I always wanted it to be. A place to make memories!  It was never just a house to us; it was a blessing. Because of BackStoppers and all their supporters, we continue to be blessed and will continue to make memories in our home.”  – Sonja Werner, surviving spouse of Chief Todd Werner, South Roxana Fire Department, EOW 7/1/21
