The BackStoppers is now assisting the families of Officer Adam King, EOW 11/19/17, and Chief Wayne Neidenberg, EOW 6/6/19.
Officer Adam King of the Terre Du Lac Police Department was killed in the line of duty in a single vehicle accident on November 19, 2017.
Officer King was 28 years old and had served with the Terre Du Lac Police Department for eight months. He leaves behind his wife and 10-year-old daughter.
Chief Wayne Neidenberg of the Lakeshire Police Department was killed in the line of duty when he suffered a fatal heart attack in his department vehicle following the end of his shift on June 6, 2019.
Chief Neidenberg was 68 years old and a 35-year veteran of law enforcement. He leaves behind his wife and adult children.

The loss the King and Neidenberg families have suffered is tremendous. While we cannot undo their suffering, we can ensure that these families are taken care of and their financial burden alleviated. The sacrifice made by Officer King and Chief Neidenberg will never be forgotten.
The BackStoppers assists approximately 80 families with 70 dependent children and has assisted over 170 families since 1959.
The BackStoppers’ assistance is immediate and ongoing. Following the death of an officer, his or her family receives a check for $10,000 to be used in whatever way they need.
Within a few weeks, our representatives meet with the surviving spouse to identify the family’s other financial obligations, eliminate the family’s debt, and provide ongoing support for education and other extraordinary expenses.
We recognize the tremendous sacrifices that public servants make every day when they go to work. We understand the burdens placed on surviving spouses and children when tragedies occur.
